STT GDC launches new data center campus in Chennai

ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (India) has announced that it will soon commence construction of their third data centre campus in Chennai. The announcement was made after a “Bhoomi Pooja”, which is a traditional ground-breaking ceremony, that was held at the site at Siruseri, Chennai recently.

According to a statement released on a professional networking site, the campus will have two data centers, with a total capacity of 50 MW IT load. The first data centre of 8MW capacity will be operational by Sept 2025. This data centre will be supported by renewable energy from day one of its operations, and will be fully equipped with robust fiber connectivity with four fibre routes.

STT GDC is a major colocation service provider, and is aiming to attract customers who are looking for a reliable data centre colocation partner, to increase their customer outreach in Chennai and the southern part of India. At present, STT GDC has three data centers in Chennai: STT Chennai DC 1 in VSB, and STT Chennai DC 2 and 3 in Ambattur. STT Chennai 4 and the newly launched STT Chennai 7 (Siruseri campus) are still under development.

Taking to LinkedIn, Sumit Mukhija (Executive Director and CEO, STT GDC, India), posted, “The journey is getting more and more exciting, as we continue to enhance our pan-India portfolio and add more than 250MW of IT load capacity over the next 3-5 years in our quest to support the thriving digital ecosystem in the country.” W.media
