Independent analytics company Opensignal has named Singtel its Global Winner for 5G Games Experience and 5G Video Experience in its 5G Global Mobile Network Experience Awards 2023 report.

Ms Anna Yip, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Singtel Singapore, said, “Singtel is honoured to be recognised by the industry for our high quality, high performance 5G network, paving the way for exciting new immersive consumer experiences and driving business transformation. The awards validate our relentless pursuit of network excellence and will spur us to continue investing in our network infrastructure to unleash 5G’s full potential.”

In its report released today, Opensignal noted that Singtel “reigns supreme” in mobile gaming with its high score of 93.7 out of a 100-point scale. The scale assesses users’ real-time multiplayer gaming experience including issues such as latency, packet loss and jitter.

In the area of video experience, where Singtel was named a joint Global Winner, Singtel’s customers were able to enjoy 1080p streaming video with fast loading times and no stalling, said Opensignal. Singtel is ranked as part of Opensignal’s Group II segment, comprising 74 operators in markets with a land area of less than 200,000 square kilometres.

Currently in its third edition, the Opensignal 5G Global Mobile Network Experience Awards is one of the most highly regarded awards within the telecom industry, celebrating innovation and excellence in network performance and user experience by operators worldwide. Singtel was also named the global and national winner for 5G Coverage Experience in Opensignal’s Understanding 5G and Overall Coverage Worldwide report earlier this year.

Singtel has been keeping Singapore connected on 5G. It launched the world’s first nationwide standalone 5G network in July 2022 and continually enhances its 5G coverage which now covers more than 1,600 outdoor locations and 800 buildings, including underground train lines, as at end-August 2023. In addition to Opensignal, Singtel’s 5G network leadership has been acknowledged by industry experts such as Ookla and it was voted Singapore’s Best Telco for the 14th year in a row in the Hardwarezone Tech Awards. Consumers can enjoy Singtel 5G with its recently launched plans that provide generous phone discounts, loyalty vouchers, large data bundles, worldwide roaming and enhanced security.
