Redmi K20 Pro Gets Stable Android 10 Update In India

The Redmi K20 Pro has finally started receiving Android 10-based MIUI 10 OTA update today in India after a beta release earlier this month. This comes after Xiaomi surprised the community with an Android 10 update in China the same day Android 10 officially rolled out to eligible devices. In fact,  even the Redmi K20 got the update on the same day in China. The update arrives with MIUI v10.4.8 and weighs at 1.3GB.

Apart from the changelog, the settings menu seems to have been redesigned with new options such as Special Features, Privacy, Ambient Display & Lock screen. The Special Features section has settings for Game Turbo, Quick Replies, Front camera effects, and Second Space. Features like Dark Mode were already on the Redmi K20 Pro so it’s not new. It’s worth noting here that Xiaomi ties new Android features with MIUI updates and not Android itself. Hence, there are times when an Android update arrives without any noticeable new features. This time seems to be one of them. However, Xiaomi has already kicked off registrations for MIUI 11 (which will be a big big upgrade) today on the eve of the Mi MIX Alpha launch taking place in China.

The Redmi K20 should be next in line for the said update and MIUI 11 should also be coming to the devices at the earliest since these are the company’s top premium handsets in its portfolio. Meanwhile, the Redmi K20 Pro has also received a massive price slash of Rs 4,000 for Big Billion Days sale starting on September 29th on Flipkart. This means that the entry-level variant costs as low as Rs 24,999 making it the current most affordable flagship in India.―91 Mobiles
