Orange launches its satellite offer

Orange is extending its range of Very High Speed connectivity solutions. The new Orange Satellite offer launched on November 16, 2023 allows general public customers in mainland France to benefit from Very High Speed, regardless of where they are, for €49.99 per month.

Very high speed everywhere and for everyone in France

Orange is expanding its range of connectivity offers and is now integrating satellite into its technological mix, in addition to fiber, ADSL, 4G Home and 5G Home. This new Orange Satellite offer is particularly aimed at customers who are not eligible for fiber and those with low ADSL speeds. It is marketed through Orange distribution channels and operated by Nordnet, a Group company that has been a French satellite Internet specialist for 15 years.

For €49.99 per month (first month free), customers of this satellite offer will be able to benefit from unlimited Very High Speed thanks to a connection of up to 200Mbits/s down and 15Mbits/s up [1]. This offer does not require any change of telephone number and includes unlimited calls to landlines in mainland France and 50 other destinations [2] and to mobiles in mainland France and 8 other destinations.

After subscribing, customers will receive a Satellite Kit to install independently or by using a network of partners specializing in installation. The Satellite Kit is available for purchase for €299 or to rent for €8/month. The kit installation option costs €299 with a one-year warranty.

This offer is part of the State’s support system for “Digital Cohesion of Territories” and meets the Government’s objective of guaranteeing access to Very High Speed for all by 2025. Households not benefiting from good wired broadband can benefit from a subsidy allowing access to a better connection via wireless technology. As part of the Orange Satellite offer, the purchase or installation of equipment can therefore be covered, subject to eligibility for the “Digital Cohesion of Territories” system.

An offer that draws on the expertise of the French and European space industry

This offer is based on the Eutelsat Konnect VHTS satellite, designed by Thalès Alenia Space in Cannes and launched in September 2022 by Ariane 5.

Weighing 6.5 tonnes and measuring 9 meters high, Eutelsat Konnect VHTS is the largest European satellite ever designed. It is part of the new generation of electric propulsion satellites [3] launched from the new all-electric platform built by Spacebus NEO, with the financial support of the European Space Agency and the National Center for Space Studies.

For Jean-François Fallacher, Deputy Director, CEO Orange France , the launch of the Orange Satellite offer is “a new step towards the deployment of Very High Speed for everyone and everywhere, in metropolitan France. We are proud at Orange to be able to offer all of our customers a very high speed access solution thanks to our technological mix. Our range of connectivity offers now includes Satellite, in addition to 4G and 5G Home, fiber and ADSL. This new offer responds to the concerns of the French whatever their connectivity needs, even in the most isolated areas.»
