Nepal Telecom transitions to FTTH, ends copper-based services in Pokhara

Nepal Telecom has completed its copper-to-fiber (FTTH) migration for fixed lines distributed from its office in Pokhara. With this, the company switched off all the lines working on traditional copper-based technology on Friday, 2080-Magh-26. The company closed its copper network Siemens, E10, MASAN/MSAG and made way for the next-generation FTTH technology.

The move aligns with the company’s aggressive plan for delivering fiber-based services nationwide. Recently, Nepal Telecom completed copper-to-fiber migration in Butwal, Babarmahal, and multiple other places. The company officially transitioned to FTTH technology for telephone lines and marked the development in a ceremony at its office in Pokhara. At the event, several high-profile figures at the company were present including Ntc Managing Director (MD) Mrs. Sangita Pahadi, the company’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Mr. Radha Krishna Dhungel, and Deputy Managing Director (DMD) Mr. Rajendra Aryal. After this, Ntc customers who are using telephones will get much better performance. At the same time, the customers will be able to get high-speed internet, voice, data, and TV services.

For the unaware, fiber represents next-generation technology in communication services with major performance upgrades. It delivers far higher and more reliable data transmission rate, consistency, and durability.
