Maroc Telecom had 69 million customers at the end of March 2020

This is revealed by the Telecom group’s quarterly indicators released on Sunday. The fleet was driven by the sustained increase in Morocco and in the subsidiaries (+ 15.8%) with the integration of Tigo Tchad into the Group’s scope since July 1, 2019.

” The results for this first quarter are driven by the growth of the customer base and Data revenues in all of the Group’s countries of presence. In the current context of health crisis and containment, the Group remains fully mobilized for the protection of its employees and its customers. The Group has ensured the availability and continuity of its services under exceptional conditions imposed by the pandemic. It therefore quickly mobilized technological resources to increase the capacity of networks in order to cope with the increase in Data usage. “, Comments Abdeslam Ahizoune, Chairman of the Management Board.

At the end of March 2020, the group achieved consolidated turnover of 9.3 billion dirhams, up 4.0% (+ 2.0% on a comparable basis) while the adjusted net profit Group share was to 1.59 billion, an improvement of 0.9% (+ 1.4% on a comparable basis).

Adjusted net operating cash flow (CFFO) amounted to 2.89 billion dirhams, an improvement of 4.3% compared to the same period of 2019 (+ 0.6% on a comparable basis), under the effect of the increase in EBITDA.

The first quarter was marked by the decision of the ANRT Management Committee of January 17, 2020, relating to anti-competitive practices on the fixed-line market and fixed broadband internet access, which was notified to Maroc Telecom on 27 January 2020.

This enforceable decision concerns a financial penalty of 3.3 billion dirhams and injunctions relating to the technical and pricing conditions of unbundling. The amount of the penalty was provisioned in 2019 and paid in full in the first quarter of 2020.

In addition, Wana Corporate has withdrawn the complaint filed with the Commercial Court of Rabat for denouncing unfair competition. The Tribunal recorded this withdrawal by judgment rendered on February 24, 2020.
