IMC 2023: Jio’s 5G rollout makes India global leader in technology

Akash Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd (RJIL) and Director on the board of Reliance Retail Ventures Ltd said that Jio’s 5G rollout has made India a global leader in technology.

Speaking at the India Mobile Congress 2023, Ambani said that Jio has deployed over 10 lakh 5G cells across all 22 circles of India, contributing to 85% of the overall 5G capacity in the country.

“Jio alone has provided one of the fastest 5G internet speeds in the world. Jio’s 5G rollout is powered by a 100% in-house 5G stack, designed, developed and manufactured entirely by Indian talent,” he said.

Ambani also said that Jio has fortified its 5G infrastructure with services like JioFiber and JioAirFiber, its fixed-wireless broadband offerings. “Now, Jio can provide 5G access to over 200 million unconnected homes and premises, making India the broadband capital of the world,” he said.

Ambani said that India today ranks amongst the top three 5G-enabled nations, with over 125 million 5G users. “The transformative power of 5G will provide new employment and entrepreneurial opportunities to millions of Indians,” he said.

Ambani also announced that Jio has launched Jio Bharat, a revolutionary 4G smartphone costing just Rs. 999. “With such bold initiatives Jio is set to end the digital exclusion in India once and for all,” he said.

Ambani said that Jio vowed to build a Digital Statue of Unity to unite India through the power of technology and connectivity.

“Through the power of technology and connectivity, we will unite and inspire 1.4 billion Indians with the single dream of making our beloved Motherland Bharat the most prosperous, the most technologically advanced, the most inclusive and most harmonious nation in the world,” he said.

He said that the Digital Statue of Unity will be built on the foundation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for a united India.

He praised Modi for his efforts to unify the country through GST, digital connectivity, and his motto of Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas.

Ambani said that the young digital entrepreneurs, innovators, and startups at the India Mobile Congress are committed to working tirelessly to realize India’s dream during India’s Amrit Kaal.

He said that they will use the power of technology to unite and inspire India, just as the Statue of Unity has united the country physically.
