IMC 2023: JioGlass AR/VR device, travel eSIM grab eyeballs

India Mobile Congress 2023: The largest telecom and technology forum in Asia kick-started in the capital of India on October 27. The showcase at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and carries the theme ‘Global Digital Innovation’. Among the notable tech showcases at the event include Sensorise eSIM and JioGlass.

Here are more details about both these gadgets.

Sensorise Travel eSIM
The M2M service company introduced its eSIM in India, which can be helpful for travellers by offering relatively affordable options for international roaming compared to other telecom service providers. As the name suggests, the eSIM does not require a physical SIM to function, eliminates costly roaming fees and offers mobile internet access.

According to the company, it also prioritises identity security and data privacy. Accessible in 190+ countries, you can set up the eSIM in 30 seconds and choose from more than 1,000 customisable plans, according to FoneArena. Priced at $10 (roughly Rs 830), you can buy the eSIM from Sensorise mobile app.

JioGlass was another product that was on display at the India Mobile Congress. Developed by Tesseract, a tech startup acquired by Reliance, the device can transform your smartphone, laptop, console or other tech gadget to screencast the experience into a 100-inch 1080p screen. This virtual display can be controlled using the smartphone to watch content and interact with apps.

This can serve a suite of use cases from business, gaming, education and more. It also supports downloading apps from the XR Store. JioGlass also supports “prescription inserts,” according to Tesseract. It weighs 69g and supports spatial audio for an immersive experience.

As for the extras, the device gets a nine-axis IMU sensor, dual speakers, a USB-C port for connectivity and a 4,000mAh battery. The price and release date of the device remain under wraps at the moment. English Jagran
