IMC 2023: India’s startup ecosystem is among top three in the world, PM

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that India’s startup ecosystem is among the top three in the world, and that the country’s youth are using their enterprise, speed, and energy to develop innovative solutions and products.

Speaking at the India Mobile Congress 2023, PM Modi said that our focus is on the democratisation of tech, and the move towards social justice.

“For citizens, access to capital, resources, and tech is a priority for this government,” he said.

PM Modi also said that the government is committed to making India a global leader in 6G technology. “Within a year of launch, there are over 4 lakh 5G base stations, covering 80% of the population and 97% of subscribers,” he said. “We are also moving towards assuming leadership for 6G.”

The Prime Minister also highlighted the rapid rollout of 5G in India, calling it the fastest in the world.

“In the last year, the average broadband speed has increased about three times,” he said. “In terms of global internet speed, India was at the 118th spot for a long time, now it is in the 40s because of the 5G rollout.”

PM also inaugurated 100 5G labs across colleges and educational institutions in India, and expressed confidence that the country would lead the world on 6G technology.
