The agreement was signed by the Chairman of MCMC, Tan Sri Mohamad Salim bin Fateh Din, the President and Chief Executive Officer of MMU, Prof. Dr. Dato’ Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, and the Chief Regulatory Officer of the GSMA, Mr. John Giusti.

Since 2015, all three parties have collaborated on the Masterclass in Converged Telecommunications Policy and Regulations (CTPR) for telecoms professionals in Malaysia. For the next three years, the Masterclass will crisscross the ASEAN Member States, fostering cross-border learning and extensive collaboration. The journey is scheduled to commence in Jakarta, Indonesia this year. The CTPR Masterclass was crafted for mid to senior-level executives across various domains including national regulatory agencies, government ministries, telecommunication service providers and equipment manufacturers/vendors. It offers an in-depth training on all facets of the converged telecommunications landscape.

Tan Sri Mohamad Salim bin Fateh Din, Chairman of MCMC expressed MCMC’s continued support for this initiative, “We are pleased to collaborate with MMU and GSMA in offering a platform for the participants to explore industry trends, disruptive innovations, and strategic imperatives, equipping them to steer their organisations effectively. Beyond knowledge transfer, it is also a great avenue to foster and widen connections, enabling participants to engage with local and international thought leaders, thus creating a vibrant ecosystem for collaboration and growth.”

John Giusti, Chief Regulatory Officer, GSMA stated: “The CTPR Masterclass programme demonstrates the value that can be delivered when the public and private sectors work together with academia to develop training that truly addresses the needs of regulatory professionals in the telecoms sector. We look forward to expanding this programme to cover more countries within the ASEAN region.”

“As a Research-led, Industry-driven University (RIU), MMU is honoured to form a strategic partnership with key stakeholders in the communication and technology industry. We will ensure that the course content is continuously reviewed and revised in line with developments in the converged telecommunications policy and regulations realm,” said Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, President of MMU.

The programme covers 14 modules on emerging perspectives in policy and regulations, spectrum management, internet governance, network security and forensics, intellectual property rights, business strategy for the telecommunications industry, AI, big data analytics, new directions in digital services, network and digital economy, and creative content industry, which will be facilitated by local as well as international industry experts and subject matter experts from MMU.

GSMA, MCMC and MMU invite all industry stakeholders to participate in the CTPR Masterclass programme and take steps towards bridging the knowledge gap related to the latest trends, developments, and opportunities in the telecoms sector.
