Apple’s supplier list indicates China remains key manufacturing base, BofA

Apple recently released an updated list of its top suppliers for materials, manufacturing and assembly of its products.

An analysis by Bank of America showed that 156 of Apple’s suppliers have some manufacturing presence in China. Taiwan was next with 48, Japan at 42, Vietnam with 35 and South Korea had 33 suppliers. The U.S. ranked sixth with Apple suppliers and showed a year-over-year drop. Meanwhile, India showed a slight gain in the number of suppliers.

“India now has 14 Apple suppliers and is ramping up higher production levels of the iPhone,” said BofA analyst Wamsi Mohan and others in a Monday note. “We expect to see more suppliers in India over the next few years.”

Corning’s (GLW) Gorilla Glass could potentially benefit from a new Apple product cycle, as it remains a supplier for the Cupertino-based tech giant.

Jabil (JBL) also stands to gain as Apple accounted for 17% of the company’s revenue in fiscal year 2023. Although Jabil recently sold its iPhone casings business to BYD Electronic Company Limited (OTCPK:BYDIF), it still manufacturers components for Apple.

Apple was up nearly 4% during early market action Monday. The company is slated to release it latest financial results post-market on Thursday. Analysts expect earnings per share of $1.51 on revenue of $90.65B. SeekingAlpha
