Airtel digitally onboards 50 summer interns from top B-Schools

Bharti Airtel said that it has kept its commitment to summer interns from top B-schools and has digitally onboarded them even as some companies beginning to rescind their internship and job offers to fight the slowdown.

Airtel has last week digitally onboarded over 50 summer interns from India’s top B-schools to Airtel’s Young Leader Summer Internship Program 2020.

These B-Schools include IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, IIM Calcutta, IIM Lucknow, FMS Delhi, MDI Gurgaon, IIFT Delhi, NITIE Mumbai, JBIMS Mumbai & XLRI Jamshedpur.

“As part of its commitment to keep ‘lights on’ to ensure India stays connected during the COVID-19 lockdown, Airtel has honored its B- school summer placement offers for this year,” Samit Deb, CHRO, Airtel said in a statement to ET Telecom.

“In these unprecedented times, we have transformed every process to make it virtual and made sure nothing within the company has to stop or be postponed. We believe this unique experience will add immense value to the learning of these leaders of tomorrow,” Samit Deb, CHRO, Airtel said in a statement to ET Telecom.

Deb said that Airtel has redesigned its Young Leaders Summer Internship Program to make it completely virtual.

“Right from induction to mentorship to final reviews, the entire program will run virtually….projects have been designed keeping in mind the remote nature of working and all interns have been provided a learning journey as per their internship streams,” he added.

Airtel said that all projects are real-time problems & interns will gain cross-functional exposure in their pursuit of solutions.

Apart from their project guides, Airtel has also assigned ‘virtual buddies’ (company employees) to each intern. These virtual buddies will help them navigate through Airtel’s ecosystem and virtually handhold them in their internship journey.
