German fiber optics concludes long-term wholesale cooperation with Vodafone

German fiber optics and Vodafone have concluded a wholesale cooperation for a period of at least ten years. The contract offers Vodafone nationwide access to the FTTH network from DeutscheOSS. The cooperation brings Deutscheglas fiber closer to its goal of providing rural and suburban areas in Germany with fiber optics quickly and comprehensively.

In principle, German fiber optics relies on Open Access. Free access to the network promotes efficient fiber optic expansion and fair competition for services and offers as well as the responsible use of resources. Open access allows fiber optic customers to choose between different offers. The network is utilized more and its cost-effectiveness is increased.

From autumn 2023, Vodafone will have access to the DeutscheOSS network as part of the wholesale agreement. In the future, Vodafone can thus reach up to six million additional households.

Andreas Pfisterer, CEO of the German Glass Fiber Group:

“We are pleased that Vodafone is relying on our rapidly growing fiber optic network in rural and suburban areas. Everyone benefits from open access: Fiber optic customers in rural areas have freedom of choice. And we as a company are getting closer to our goal of supplying the regions with fiber optics quickly and comprehensively through such wholesale partnerships.

We offer all telecommunications providers the opportunity to use our infrastructure to expand their range of services. In this way, we promote fair competition between offers and services and advance the expansion of fiber optics in Germany.”
