LG stresses on OFC-based connectivity for all hamlets in Ladakh
Ladakh Lieutenant Governor RK Mathur reviewed the progress on the National Optical Fibre Network, NOFN, scheme for connecting all the 193 Gram panchayats in the Union Territory.
In New Delhi, he held meeting with NOFN, BSNL, Universal Service Obligation Fund, USOF, Bharat Broadband Network Limited, BBNL and the private mobile operators for improvement of connectivity in Ladakh, especially the remote and difficult uncovered areas, along the National Highways and tourists routes.
Mr. Mathur directed the BharatNet to improve the bandwidth of VSATs installed in several villages in Ladakh, to provide better services to the students and public in general. However, he stressed for OFC-based connectivity under BharatNet project.
Deputy Director-General, USOF informed that upgradation of mobile connectivity of BSNL and other private operators, from 2G to 4G would be considered in the existing tender.
