Apple likely to reveal low-cost 5G iPhone at spring event

Apple Inc will likely launch a new low-cost iPhone SE with 5G capabilities at its annual spring product launch event on Tuesday.

At the event, the iPhone manufacturer is expected to launch a new version of the iPad Air and a high-end Mac Mini.

Apple’s iPhone SE is currently priced at $399. According to CFRA Research analyst Angelo Zino, Apple might attract more price-sensitive consumers if the price remains the same for the new version.

“It might potentially increase our unit iPhone estimate for 2022 if they keep that price point unchanged,” Zino said. “The iPhone SE really caters well to a lot of first-time customers on the iPhone ecosystem that may be younger individuals, where their parents are going out there buying that device.”

The new phone would be the first update to the iPhone SE model in two years, and is rumored to include an improved camera and a faster processor.

According to IDC’s Ryan Reith, the United States, Japan, and Western Europe have been the leading markets for iPhone SE sales in recent years. This is because these regions will likely remain the top markets following the anticipated introduction of the third-generation iPhone SE.

“We’ll likely see significant geography shifts,” Reith said, adding that the new iPhone SE will account for 10% of iPhone shipments worldwide after the launch.

IPhones with 5G capabilities have made a major part of Apple’s flagship product, with its iPhone 13 that includes custom 5G antennas and radio components for faster speeds, while customers look for powerful devices with greater connectivity.

Despite the fact that some analysts have pointed to the potential of 5G technology across the globe.

“Currently in most countries in the world, that (5G) technology isn’t sufficient to produce a unique and differentiated experience,” says Canalys research analyst Dan Webb.

Zino said at the Tuesday event that he does not anticipate service or accessories deliveries, although an unscheduled announcement in the services industry is still possible.

Apple hosts three events every year to provide new products starting in spring and confirming the launch of its latest iPhone range just before the holiday shopping season.

Apple said on March 1st that it had placed all product sales in Russia; the company also said it had halted all exports into its sales channels in the country, including restrictions on Apple Pay and other services in Russia.

The Russian state media, including RT News and Sputnik News, are no longer available for download from the Apple Store outside Russia. List23
