Apple Registers 3 New iPad Models And A Bluetooth Device In China; Likely To Launch Soon

Apple announced the 3 new iPhones last month along with the Apple Watch Series 4. While people were also expecting to see new iPads and MacBooks, Apple didn’t speak a word on them. But now, it seems like Apple is gearing up to launch the new iPads soon, and reports hint at an announcement later this month.

Ahead of the official announcement, details about the new models have surfaced. According to a report on MySmartPrice, four new model numbers were spotted in China’s MIIT certification. On September 29, three devices received certification, bearing model numbers A1876, A1980, and A1993, and they are expected to be iPad Pro 2018 models.

Additionally, a Bluetooth device with model number A2051 has also been spotted, which could be hinting at a refreshed Apple Pencil model. However, this is just a speculation here. Typically, Apple releases two separate iPad models one with Wi-Fi only connectivity, and the other with Wi-Fi + Cellular (LTE) models.

Based on what we have come across so far, the new iPad Pro models are expected to embrace the bezel-less design, just like the new iPhones. Apple is also likely to drop the TouchID fingerprint scanner, and replace it with Face ID. Also, on the connectivity front, a USB Type-C port will be replacing the Lightning connector, as per rumors.

How many of these things turn out to be true is something that we will only come to know when Apple finally announces the new iPads. There is no word on the announcement date, when they will go on sale and the pricing either, but as the event draws closer, more leaks are expected. – BGR
