4G connectivity for 4000 villages in Odisha under BharatNet soon
As the Centre has already approved a proposal in this regard, about 4,000 villages in the state will soon have 4G internet access, according to Union minister of state for communications Devusinh Chauhan in the Rajya Sabha, who was responding to a question by BJD member Prasanna Acharya. The minister’s note signifies that the state government has been urging the Centre to improve the state’s mobile network in order to accelerate the pace of development. The minister also announced that Wi-Fi hotspots have been installed under BharatNet in 2,511 panchayats in Odisha until December 31, 2021. The state government is also responsible for the operation of the BharatNet Phase-II, according to the minister.
According to the minister, up to 1,168 access points had been established in Odisha, including in rural areas as on February 1. The Times Bureau
