ZTE Nubia Z18 Could very well be Ditching the Notch

We’ve seen plenty of leaks for the Nubia Z18 till now. One of the key highlights of the phone is expected to be its screen, which is expected to feature an impressive screen-to-body ratio. Previous reports have suggested the device to come with an Essential Phone-style notch at the top to maintain a full screen experience. In a weird turn of events though, a new leaked image of the device showcases the Nubia Z18 to ditch the notch completely.

The real-life images were first spotted on a Chinese website called CNMO. The images posted by the website clearly show the absence of the notch, while also highlighting the extremely thin top and side bezels. Nubia might have taken this approach to further increase the screen-to-body ratio above 90 percent.

However, it does raise a few questions around the front camera. It’s clear that the bezel at the top cannot house a camera module. At best, it can only carry an earpiece. The bottom chin is quite thick, but doesn’t seem to have a lens cutout either. So there is a good chance that the Nubia Z18 might feature a pop-up camera module, like the ones on Vivo Nex or the new Oppo Find X. But only time will tell if Nubia is in fact taking that route.

Previous rumors have claimed the Nubia Z18 to sport a 5.99-inch LCD display featuring a full HD+ resolution. The phone is also suggested to be running on Snapdragon 845 SoC with clock speeds of 2.8 GHz. Under the hood, a 3,350mAh battery is said to be fueling the device and it will most likely be running on Android 8.1 Oreo. – BGR
