Zoom partners with OpenAI to bring AI-driven features to platform

As technology evolves, many of us feel conflicted. On one hand, new tools and ways of working allow us to achieve more than ever before. But at the same time, we are trying to collaborate across hybrid work styles, jumping between apps, trying to keep up with our teams, and in the process, we’re squandering precious time that could have been spent building connections or collaborating on game-changing ideas.

At Zoom, we know AI is a key part of the solution. We’ve been using AI for years — it’s part of our DNA.

We are as excited as anyone to see the innovations in large language models that are going to make generative AI a driving force in making our customers’ organizations more productive. We’re taking a federated approach to AI to leverage our proprietary AI models, those from leading AI companies such as OpenAI, and select customers’ own models.

With this flexibility to incorporate multiple types of models, our goal is to provide the most value for our customers’ diverse needs. These models are also customizable, so they can be tuned to a given company’s vocabulary and scenarios for better performance.

Zoom IQ: our next-gen AI smart companion
Over the past year, we’ve introduced different features of Zoom IQ, including smart meeting recordings, which allow you to quickly access the meeting information you need through chapters, recording highlights, and action items. And we launched Zoom IQ for Sales, which uses conversational intelligence to capture meaningful and actionable insights from customer interactions that improve seller performance and enhance customer experience.

But that was just the beginning. Today we’re announcing that we’re evolving the capabilities of Zoom IQ to become a smart companion that empowers collaboration and unlocks people’s potential by summarizing chat threads, organizing ideas, drafting content for chats, emails, and whiteboard sessions, creating meeting agendas, and more.

Increase your impact throughout your workday
Designed to streamline workflows and equip you with the information you need to get stuff done, Zoom IQ’s capabilities will help you move through your day more easily — here’s how that day might look:

Say a team member joins their Zoom meeting late, they can ask Zoom IQ to summarize what they’ve missed in real time and ask further questions. If they need to create a whiteboard session for their meeting, Zoom IQ can generate it based on text prompts. Once the session ends, Zoom IQ will summarize the meeting and post that recap to Zoom Team Chat, even suggesting actions for owners to take on.

Next you’re collaborating on an important, time-sensitive project over Zoom Team Chat. You had to step out for a minute, which means you came back to a long list of messages to catch up on; Zoom IQ helps you get the gist by providing a summary of the thread. Once you’re up to speed, Zoom IQ chat compose makes it easy to help you find the right words by drafting a response for you, even rephrasing responses if need be. But you’ll still be able to make those messages sound like, well, you.

After chatting more with your team, you realize you need to hop on a meeting to talk out a few items, so you set something up using an agenda Zoom IQ suggests, which pulls context from the chat.

And if you need to send a follow-up with a customer over email, you’ll be able to harness the power of generative AI to receive content suggestions for your notes. Zoom IQ assists by reading meeting summaries with customers and even considers already completed tasks. Modify the email to make it your own, and then close the loop from there.

At work, the little things add up to a lot of time and energy — the time it takes to compose an email, find the notes about a call you missed, or catch up on unread chats. By expediting these smaller tasks, we gain more than just time. We unlock greater creativity and collaboration for ourselves and our teams.
