With STPI contract over, Govt seeking an audit agency for GBBN

Department of information technology, electronics and communications (DITEC) plans to audit the entire project implemented by Goa Broadband Network (GBBN). The project delivers broadband internet and reliable electronic services to the citizens and the government.

The audit is for monitoring and assessing 1,605 locations connected to GBBN to determine if the terms of the project are being met. GBBN is being implemented by United Telecoms Limited (UTL). UTL is yet to receive its payment from DITEC.

DITEC has floated a tender to select the third-party agency for the audit. The contract will be for three years.

Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) was appointed as the third-party auditor for GBBN covering 425 sites but the contract expired on March 31.

The department now wants a new agency to take over the audit from STPI and monitor the performance of GBBN to ensure that the project meets the desired objective of linking the government headquarters with all government offices through the Statewide Area Network.
