VoLTE accounts for half of calls made in Telia mobile network
Telia Lietuva has announced that last month every second call over its mobile network was made using VoLTE technology. The service was activated by the Swedish-owned operator in October 2017, providing customers with faster call connectivity and improved voice quality at no additional cost. Telia predicts that the share of VoLTE calls made over its network will increase by two-thirds in the coming years, driven by the planned shutdown of its 3G network at the end of next year.
‘We delivered the highest quality VoLTE calls to our customers five years ago and we are still the only operator in Lithuania that supports this technology,’ said Telia Service Architect Tomas Grinevicius, adding: ‘Both private and business customers can use it at no extra charge, it is activated automatically, and all it takes is a VoLTE-enabled smartphone that activates 4G and the VoLTE service.’ CommsUpdate
