Virus delays 5G rollout in Greece

Greek telco Cosmote – part of OTE Group – says its 5G network rollout, which was due to begin next month, will be impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. A report from Reuters cites CEO Michael Tsamaz as saying that the lockdown in Greece, which has been imposed to curb the spread of the virus, has delayed its 5G deployment.

He commented: ‘This will be now delayed by two or three months, four months. But it will begin once restrictions are lifted.’ The CEO also said that OTE Group will look to cut costs in response to falling revenues in order to meet its EBITDA targets for 2020.
