UK’s Cyber Security Centre Deals With Daily Attacks

With cyber-attacks becoming the latest battleground in a global war the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre deals with several attacks per week.

The head of the NCSC, Ciaran Martin, has singled out Russia as the major threat to cybersecurity as it targeted UK media, energy sectors and telecommunications. State-sponsored attacks are a daily occurrence, and while the NSCS is doing its best, individual businesses and users need to do their part to keep themselves safe online.

Hostile foreign powers are not the only threat however, as some 140,000 sits have been closed down in the UK across the past 18 months – many of them posing to look like banks or government departments in an attempt to lure in unsuspecting consumers.

The NCSC has also provided tools that allow firms to scan their own websites to find potential security weaknesses, helping businesses protect themselves from any future attacks. – Networks Asia
