U.S Cellular Targets Business, Rural Customers With New IoT Deal

U.S. Cellular has signed an agreement with Internet of Things America to provide a suite of IoT solutions for business customers and farmers across the country.

The regional carrier said that the new deal will allow customers including growers, ranchers and light industrial companies to have access to IoT America technology solutions.

“We strive to work with companies who share our commitment to providing an excellent customer experience, and IoT America offers unique IoT applications and solutions that can enhance any agricultural operation while providing ongoing support every step of the way,” said Scott Scheuber, director of emerging product and services management at U.S. Cellular. “IoT doesn’t have to be difficult, and with our track record of high-quality network service, we can ensure that farms of all sizes and functions have access to the technology they need to be successful.”

Under the terms of the agreement, U.S. Cellular and IoT America will provide smart farming solutions for farmers and ranchers with the aim of delivering higher yields and efficiencies.

In an initial stage, IoT America will offer asset tracking and tank monitoring solutions for U.S. Cellular customers. Asset tracking includes outdoor applications as well as Lone Worker identification capabilities. The tank monitoring solutions include diesel tank, propane tank and water tank monitoring. Additionally, the companies said that tank monitoring allows for reduced truck rolls from delivery companies, increased time utilization for both family farm operations and large cooperatives.

IoT America will be in charge of the whole process to implement the IoT technologies, including installation, sensor management, ongoing monitoring as well as data analytics.

“The success of our customers living and working in rural communities drives everything we do at IoT America, including our strategic engagement with U.S. Cellular,” said Michelle Reese, senior vice president of strategic alliances at IoT America. “By combining our vast IoT capabilities and industry expertise with U.S. Cellular’s market leadership in creating solutions that delight customers on their network, we are in a perfect position to help growers and ranchers make smarter decisions and improve the way they work.” – Enterprise IoT Insights
