Tusass to switch off 3G services next year

Greenlandic telco Tusass has confirmed it will discontinue its 3G services next year.

It’s a move that follows that of global trends, with many operators retiring 3G services around the world.

No exact date was given by the company, which referred to 3G as “outdated technology” and “spare parts,” while suggesting it will focus on other services instead.

The operator said it will notify customers at least three months before the fixed shutdown date.

Earlier this week, Orange Slovakia confirmed it’s also shutting down its 3G network next year, while last week Lithuanian telco Telia Lietvua retired its 3G network.

Meanwhile, Telecom Italia shut off its 3G network in October, while other operators in Australia, Belgium, New Zealand, and South Africa have outlined proposed shut-off dates. Data Center Dynamics
