Trivadis And Swisscom Launch Database Services From The Cloud

Trivadis and Swisscom bundle their strengths in the area of Database-as-a-Service. Together, the companies are supporting their customers in all aspects to do with cloud-based databases starting in the autumn of 2019. While Trivadis is developing and operating the Database-as-a-Service platform, Swisscom is delivering its Swisscom Cloud as the basis for this with its highest security standards from its own Swiss computing centres.

Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) is a cloud-based approach to storing and administering data. This is a managed and fully automated service that provides access to a database via the network and is charged by means of a usage-based model.

Trivadis assumes all aspects that deal with the management of the database services. Sebastian Bloch, Head of Managed Services at Trivadis, says: “Trivadis has over 25 years of experience in managed services and supports more than 280 Service Level Agreements per year with customers from various industries. We’re very pleased to be able to provide these database services on the basis of Oracle from the Swisscom Cloud in future.”

Acting faster on the market

The partnership supports customers over the entire value chain. Fewer interfaces help to reduce complexity and thus costs. In addition, due to the combined experience of both partners, customers have access to extensive expertise from Switzerland with regard to cloud-based databases. This experience also includes a standardised methodology and a standardised process landscape. Accordingly, companies can respond faster to market changes and introduce innovative products to the market sooner than their competitors.

Database services bring numerous benefits for customers. Thus the databases provided exhibit high flexibility, scalability and high availability. Data security and a high quality data management are also ensured with Database-as-a-Service.

Christian Mugg, Head of the Cloud & Data Centre product management at Swisscom says: “The success story of the Swisscom Cloud will continue to be written. This partnership not only enables our customers to give up the management of the databases and thus to focus on their core business, but also to be able to rely on the secure Swiss cloud from Swisscom.”
