TRAI organised two events with two themes on its silver anniversary

On the historic occasion when the country is celebrating Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, of completing 75 years of independence. Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has also completed 25 years of its existence. To mark the ocassion, TRAI has organised events that had two parallel themes.

A special Ministerial session was organized in which Union Minister of Textiles, Minister of Commerce and Industry and Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Piyush Goyal was present as the Chied guest and Union Minister of Railways, Communications and Electronics & Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw was the Guest of Honour also present and addressed the gathering. TRAI Chairman Dr. P D Vaghela, Member TRAI Ms Meenakshi Gupta, Secretary Department of Telecom K Rajaram. All the dignitaries spoke about the new evolving regulatory processes which are being adopted by Regulators in taking decision.

While addressing the gathering Union minister Ashwani Vaishnaw pointed out and made his first point on the Inclusive development and stated, “the thought process under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi we are very focused on the inclusiveness and on the people who are marginalized. The economic divide which was there 30-35 years ago can be overcome by various means like education and jobs”. He also added, “In this time the digital gap is not being fulfilled but the government is doing everything possible to bridge that gap by opening public digital platform which would be open source. Close to 17- 18 countries are willing to signing the agreements.”

The union minister also pondered upon the Integrated planning, integrated development structure, and said, in today’s digitalized world the 4G technology stag that India has developed is a visualized technology stag which is of a significant achievement and 5G stag is also in a very good, advanced stage in India ”

After Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw concluded, a video of the significance and achievements of the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan (PMGS-NMP) was shown. While addressing the gathering Union Minister Piyush Goyal highlighted some of the key achievements under the vision and leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the growth the telecom industry has achieved over these years. He also congratulated the TRAI on completing 25 years of its journey and stated, “It is matter of pride that TRAI has completed its 25 years. I have no doubt in my mind that the work that the telecom has done in the last several years is commendable. IT along with digital connectivity is growing at a rapid speed.”

The minister while supporting this statement gave an example that, “One of the recent examples during covid 19 the telecom had helped massively for communication. Throughout the covid pandemic we did not let down any commitment that we had made, and the government worked seamlessly. The journey of telecom has been revolutionary since Mr Vajapyee had initiated. Under Prime Minister Modi truly demonstrated that technology availability. Today we are making rapid strides. Reach, reform, regulate, research are means through which we have achieved our goals.”

He also added, “The fact that the mission before this government and this nation is to take the technology to every part of this country, to every corner of the country. So, every person can reach to every corner of the world.”

He also has praised the consumer affairs industry and stated that, “As consumers affairs Minister I can assure that I have got the lowest number of complains” The union Minister also stated that, this government responds to every problem. It acts and responds proactively.”

Union Minister Piyush Goyal also highlighted the achievements of the Modi government over these 8 years and stressed on the efforts made by the government to aid the poor and stated, that “Biggest transformation change was the one nation one ration plan. The PM govt is ensuring to help the poorest of the poor. He has demonstrated that his work is to the poor and to the marginalized. The common thread is the digital connectivity.”

The seminar was attended by more than 150 participants, including the foreign dignitaries from various countries in the presence of the Media. Times Now News
