Tigo, Latin America responds to the call to action

Millicom (operating under the Tigo brand) in Latin America unveiled plans to invest $700m into maintaining and expanding its fixed and mobile broadband networks in Central America. Its commitment will see investments being injected into its operations in Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador over the next two years. The move comes as a response to a call to action from US vice president Kamala Harris, in a bid to accelerate economic growth in these markets through enhanced connectivity. Penetration rates for broadband in the three countries are still below average levels in the region – with only 30% to 40% of households having access to reliable broadband at home.
