Telcos To Ensure High Bandwidth

IT department, anticipating a hike in internet usage, met telecom providers on Wednesday to explore possibilities of ensuring uninterrupted internet as people are avoiding public contacts after new Covid-19 cases were reported recently in state. Telecom providers agreed to raise 30-40% efficiency of their services considering the emergency where more people are working from home or switching to digital options for various needs.

After a cabinet decision on Tuesday, chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who is also the minister for IT, had assigned electronics and IT department to ensure that necessary steps are taken considering the rise in use of internet-based services.

Then, IT secretary T Sivasankar and department officials met representatives of Reliance Jio, BSNL, Vodafone, Airtel, Asianet, Tata Teleservice and central power grid corporation.
