Taiwan Networking Specialists Highlight 5G, IoT Applications At CES 2019

As part of their efforts to embrace the 5G era, many Taiwan network equipment makers including Sercomm, Zyxel Communications and Wistron NeWeb (WNC) are showcasing the latest 5G and IoT communications equipment and solutions at CES 2019

Sercomm is exhibiting new-generation AIoT (AI+ IoT) and M-IoT (Mobile IoT) solutions, including high-end network cameras with image recognition function, multi-function IoT gateways, and M-IoT sensors. The company is also actively negotiating with telecom operators and system service firms to jointly explore business opportunities.

Company president James Wang said that Sercomm’s high-end smart network camera boasts face recognition, voice detection and dynamic motion recording functions, with recognition time and precision sharply boosted via deep learning technology.

Wang continued that the firm’s smart M-IoT solutions can support NB-IoT and LTE-M technologies, and boast low cost, low power consumption and long-range transmission traits. The solutions can be widely applied to smart power meters, assets positioning, medical care, and environmental monitoring, generating immense business opportunities for telecom operators.

Zyxel is showcasing a series of latest high-speed broadband solutions, including CBRS (citizens broadband radio services), 10G optical fiber gateway, WiFi 6 (802.11ax), and EasyMesh standard and home information security solutions.

First unveiled at the show, the firm’s LTE 7480 LTE-A outdoor routers can support the CBRS frequency spectrums of the US, allowing telecom operators to render high-speed mobile broadband services to remote areas or areas suffering poor signal performance.

The company is also planning to release in 2019 a series of WiFi solutions that support the latest EasyMesh standards, and integrate new-generation WiFi 6 specs and information security protection functions to create a sound environment for high-speed and safe wireless network access.

As to Wistron NeWeb, the company highlights the theme of “Be the First to 5G with WNC” in demonstrating its 5G applications, next-generation broadband networks, smart home, Internet of Vehicles, and wireless radio frequency (RF) devices.

In the smart home segment, the company displays smart edge gateways that can be paired with cameras to integrate AI face identification technology. For IoT application, the firm offers smarting tracking solutions featuring Bluetooth position tracking or RFID functions that can integrate gateways and back-end management platforms.―DIGITIMES
