TAIPA rebrands to DIPA for a right reason

As Indian digital communications sector is gearing up itself for next digital revolution with the forthcoming launch of 5G and other new and emerging technologies such as M2M/IoT, AR/VR, AI etc, TAIPA, the apex industry body for telecom infrastructure providers in India, has repositioned itself to DIPA (Digital Infrastructure Providers Association), to lead the opportunities of the new era in the sector, in tune with the emerging trends.

With new identity as DIPA, the Association will reposition itself as the representative body for an array of Digital Communication industry players serving the need of entire ICT ecosystem while also aligning with future industry requirements and new business opportunities for its members. This will also be in line with the National Digital Communications Policy (NDCP-2018) and also the flagship programme of Digital India as launched by Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India.

Speaking on the occasion, Akhil Gupta, Chairman-DIPA said, “TAIPA has provided leadership for establishment and sharing of vital telecommunications passive infrastructure between various service providers – mainly towers ever since its inception, resulting in India emerging as the country with second largest private sector investment in infrastructure and in generating direct and indirect employment for more than 4 million across India. The sharing of infrastructure on a non-discriminatory basis between service providers has been a key factor in enabling the Indian telecom industry to provide services at lowest tariff across the world. Under its new avatar as DIPA, it aims to extend this leadership now to all aspects of digital infrastructure for the entire ICT industry and thereby contribute to India becoming a robust digital economy which would enable inclusive growth across the country covering all sections of society.”

“DIPA is the upgraded brand entity representing a significant and meaningful shift in Association’s overall vision and objectives. Given the increased convergence of multiple industries, we felt there was a need not only for telecom but entire ICT ecosystem to come together and work towards the next era of development for this highly promising sector. With the new brand DIPA, we now reposition ourselves to continue to lead digital communications sector which is full of new and exciting opportunities. It is indeed a new day dawning, not only for DIPA, but for the entire industry as well.” said, Amit Sharma, Vice Chairman, DIPA

According to T. R. Dua, Director General, DIPA“ What started as an association of telecom tower providers, has today expanded to be a thought leader in digital communications infrastructure industry, with members including from leading telecom infrastructure providers, connectivity solutions providers, various energy management companies among others and still expanding to include other allied and critical stakeholders of the growing sector such as data centre, Wi-Fi, IoT, Smart cities, In-building connectivity, satellite communication, small cells, alternate energy solutions etc. DIPA will continue to play the role of a thought leader for the industry and support the diverse community of stakeholders by providing with dedicated resources, advocacy, expertise, and networking.”

Going forward, DIPA will be a full-blown industry body catering to wider spectrum of stakeholders in ICT ecosystem and aims at facilitating business relationships and partnerships with member corporates and institutions across the country through close interaction(s) with industry’s renowned members, Central and State Governments, Knowledge Partners, and academia.

DIPA will also continue to be the lead participant and consultative partners in policy making by channelizing its inputs in economic and sectoral policy frameworks, working closely with the government at all levels – be it Centre/ State and/or Local Bodies for mutually beneficial policy formulation.
