Syngene Appoints Former Vodafone Executive Sibaji Biswas As CFO

Biocon Ltd’s contract manufacturing subsidiary Syngene International Ltd has appointed Sibaji Biswas as chief financial officer, effective 18 December.

Biswas was the CFO and board member for Vodafone Romania. His prior experience includes eleven years at Vodafone, as well as roles in Fascel Telecommunications, Jhagadia Copper and the ABP Group.

“We are delighted to welcome Sibaji to Syngene. He brings operational experience combined with a deep finance background which will be extremely valuable to the company as it enters the next phase of growth,” Syngene chief executive officer Jonathan Hunt was quoted as saying in a release.

He will succeed M.B. Chinappa in the CFO role. Chinappa will join Biocon’s biosimilar arm Biocon Biologics India Ltd in a new role, the company said in a release.

At 2.15 pm, shares of Syngene were up 0.2% at 317.40 on the National Stock Exchange. Biocon owns 70.2% stake in Syngene.

Incorporated in 1993, Syngene is a contract research and manufacturing organization that supports research and development programmes for its clients in industries like pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, nutrition and animal health.

In the July-September quarter, Syngene posted a quarterly revenue of 485 crore, up 11% year-on-year, while its net profit was up 64% on year at 128 crore.―Livemint
