Sumit Sonal puts in his papers at Xiaomi

Sumit Sonal, General Manager – Marketing at Xiaomi India has tendered his resignation.

Sonal said in his Linkedin post, “As a child, I always believed that technology has the power to change lives. I had experienced it first-hand at home when Dad, in 1998, got us brothers a computer from his hard-earned Diwali bonus. That single-screen computer opened a new world of learning and opportunities and forever changed our lives. In 2017, I joined Xiaomi India with the same mission and vision – to deliver the power of technology to a million hands and enable them to realize their full potential!

One of my most memorable moments at Xiaomi India will always be my first launch & campaign for our most-affordable smartphone – Redmi 5A (2017) – which we lovingly called Desh Ka Smartphone. It was heart-warming to see how this simple device empowered millions of Indians to access information, connect with their loved ones, and lead a more independent life. This experience reinforced my belief that technology has the power to act as an equalizer in our society, even breaking down barriers based on education, earning power, and demographics.

After a dream run of 6 years with Xiaomi India, it’s time for me to move on to new adventures, challenges, and opportunities. It has been an honor to be a part of the Xiaomi family.”
