Southern Telecom, Infrastructure Partner SEIMITSU

Southern Telecom, Inc., a subsidiary of energy supplier Southern Company, says it has won a contract to provide fiber-optic network connectivity and colocation services to what it describes as “a major multinational technology company.” STI has worked with infrastructure partner SEIMITSU Business Technology Solutions to build the necessary fiber network infrastructure in central Georgia.

STI says its customer, which it did not further identify, will use the new fiber-optic network links to expand its own broadband network in the U.S. Southeast. The joint fiber connection offers a lateral at each end of the route and as well as a colocation space for the new customer.

“STI’s partnership with SEIMITSU, one of our most valued infrastructure partners, to serve our customer is a huge step forward in our ongoing network fiber strategy to enhance our current routes and introduce new ones,” comments Barry Navarre, business development manager for STI. “The new fiber route and colocation space will ensure faster connections in the Southeast for this major customer and the thousands of customers it serves in the area.”

STI markets more than 2,600 route miles of fiber-optic network infrastructure in the Southeast, including conduit and metro dark fiber throughout Atlanta. The network operator is evaluating other network extensions to further its reach.―Lightwave Online
