SK Telecom To Acquire South Korean Security Services Provider SK Infosec

South Korean mobile operator SK Telecom has announced it will acquire SK Infosec, a security services provider under SK Group, as part of its efforts to expand its security business, Yonhap news agency reports. The acquisition is scheduled for completion on 27 December. SK Telecom will acquire a 100 percent stake in SK Infosec. SK Infosec currently provides security monitoring and consulting services for businesses with annual sales over KRW 200 billion (approximately USD 175 million).

Following the completion of the transaction, SK Telecom will have two securities affiliates under its arm, as it already holds a 55-percent controlling stake in ADT Caps. Earlier this month, SK Telecom completed the purchase of ADS Caps in a joint investment with Australia’s Macquarie Group. ADT Caps has sround 570,000 customers and is focused on maintaining and protecting various facilities, businesses and homes.

SK Telecom said the company’s long-term plan is to build an integrated service platform ranging from physical security to information security. – CT Bureau
