Samsung Overtakes Apple In Terms Of User Loyalty

According to a new report by BankMyCell, a website that lets users sell used phones and upgrade to a new one, Apple iPhone users’ loyalty is lower than that of Samsung users. The website concluded this by collecting data from more than 38,000 people that traded used phones for new ones ever since October last year. As per the report (via CNET), the iPhone retention was down by 15.2% as compared to what was observed in March last year.

On the other hand, Apple’s arch rival in the Android space – Samsung, was found to have more loyal users. The report adds that BankMyCell found around 26% users trading their iPhone X only to move to a different brand. Around 7.7% of Samsung Galaxy S9 users switched to an iPhone while 92.3% stuck with an Android-based smartphone.

Last month, around 18% iPhone users traded their devices to move to a Samsung smartphone. It has also been mentioned that this time iPhone loyalty has been the lowest ever since 2011. For now, its at73% as compared to the all time high of 92%, which was back in 2017, the year when iPhone X launched.

For now, all eyes are on the upcoming iPhones that are supposed to launch in September or October. This time also the firm is said to launch three iPhones that will be the successor to iPhone XS, XS Max and XR. There have been some videos as well showing the dummy models.

Samsung is yet to reveal its flagship Galaxy Note handset. The launch date has already been announced but nothing else is known about the device yet. The teaser image and video stress on the S Pen and the camera. There have been several leaks and rumours on the web as well, giving us some idea on what to expect.―Times of India
