Rajasthan opens bid for 3 years Internet services data alongwith smartphones

Rajasthan government yesterday opened the bids for three years Internet services data alongwith smartphones.

Under the Mukhyamantri Digital Seva Yojana 2022 scheme, one mobile phone is being given to all the women of the state in which internet will be free for 3 years. About 1.33 crore women will avail this scheme.

Reliance Jio and Airtel are the selected vendors, with Jio having received 60 percent of the allocation. The estimated cost of the order is Rs 12000 crore. Vodafone Idea was the third bidder.

While Jio has tied up with HMD Nokia; Airtel’s supplier is Samsung for the handsets. The primary SIM slot of the smartphones will be locked with the carrier while the second SIM slot will be open for any other telco. Chinese brands were not allowed to participate in the tender.
