Portuguese Operators Want To Limit 5G Auction To EUR 100 Million Per Bidder

Telecom operators operating in Portugal believe the auction for 5G licences, scheduled for April, should limit costs for each operator at EUR 100 million, reports Jornal Economico. According to the weekly, Altice, Nos and Vodafone justify this limit with the fact that they will have to make high investments over the next years to implement 5G. They argue that the higher the amount disbursed in the auction, the lower their capacity to invest in 5G commitments.

The operators also believe that the total cost of implementing 5G should be lower than the EUR 250 million each one has invested on average, to implement 4G.―Telecompaper
