PLI scheme hits a roadblock as payments not cleared by the govt

Electronics and hardware manufacturers, including Dell, Wistron, and Dixon and Netweb Technologies have appealed to MeitY for release of payments due to them under the Production Linked Incentives (PLI) scheme.

The delay is attributed to Industrial Finance Corporation of India, that has failed to complete the required audit of claims that have been submitted. In the last six months alone, IFCI’s auditors have changed three times and every time a new team is appointed, the process has to start from scratch.

This is not the first time that the govt is being requested to clear the PLI scheme dues. On June 23, the ICEA had also written to PMO seeking immediate payment of all incentives and dues payable to industry under various schemes including the PLI scheme and other export promotion schemes.
