Oppo F9 Pro Coming To India On August 21

Oppo will launch the F9 Pro in India on Tuesday, August 21. The company has spent weeks building up a hype for the upcoming smartphone and has revealed some key details about it in the process as well. Oppo isn’t keeping the phone a secret, and understandably so because the F9 Pro does tout a very unique design. While the F9 Pro will be coming to India next week, Oppo has already announced the F9 in some places like the Vietnam and Philippines. Both the phones are essentially the same with some subtle differences in hardware.

The Oppo F9 Pro will come with a display cutout, but it’s a notch that’s unlike what we have seen so far on most Android phones and the iPhone X. The company is also touting its trademark VOOC fast charge support as well as its colour options and some hardware specifications as well, all of which sound almost identical to the F9. Based on what Oppo has revealed, past rumours and the official F9, here’s what the F9 Pro will bring to the table.

— Oppo will no doubt highlight the design of the F9 Pro as the device’s main USP. The phone will bring what Oppo calls a Waterdrop screen, which is a fancy way of saying that the display will be edge-to-edge and immersive along with a notch that is shaped as a water droplet. The notch is quite unique and unlike what we have seen on most Android phones this year. It bears a resemblance to the Essential Phone but Oppo’s notch seems to be a touch smaller and less intrusive.

— The tiny notch and narrow chin will allow for a lot of display on the phone. Oppo says that the F9 Pro will come with a 90.8 per cent screen-to-body ratio. Much like the F9, the F9 Pro is expected to come with a 6.3-inch FHD+ display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio.

— The Oppo F9 is the first smartphone to get the latest Gorilla Glass 6 protection and we expect the F9 Pro to come with the glass as well. Qualcomm said that the new glass will survive up to 15 drops from a height of up to 1 meter.

— In addition to a unique display, the F9 Pro will also come in some attractive colour options. Oppo has revealed that the device will be offered in three colours – Starry Purple, Sunrise Red and Twilight Blue. All three options have a gradient design which means you’ll see a combination of colours that will change depending on the angle and light hitting it. Additionally, the Red and Blue colours will also get diamond-shaped patterns on the back, while the Purple colour option will have a star-studded pattern to reflect the night sky.

— Much like the F9, the F9 Pro will be powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio P60 chipset. Oppo will also include an AI battery management feature. But while the F9 has been announced with only 4GB of RAM, Oppo has confirmed that the F9 Pro will get 6GB of memory along with 64GB of internal storage.

— The F9 Pro’s notch will house a 25-megapixel AI sensor similar to the Oppo F7 and F9. Additionally, the camera will support what the company calls Sensor HDR, which is a feature that is also found in the Oppo F7.

— Oppo is yet to reveal the rear camera specs of the F9 Pro, but if the device is similar to the F9 then we can assume a 16MP + 2MP configuration. The primary camera comes with a f/1.9 aperture while the secondary camera will be used for depth sensing.

— Oppo is highlighting super fast VOOC Flash Charge support that will deliver 2 hours of talktime after 15 minutes of charge. This means you should see charging speeds similar to OnePlus’ Dash charger. The phone will house a 3,500mAh battery. – India Today
