Nokia welcomes SC decision, says Oppo must ‘adhere to fair principles’ in licensing

Nokia has called upon Chinese smartphone brand Oppo to adhere to fair practices and agree to licensing terms that are just and reasonable.
“We welcome the Supreme Court decision. Oppo has been unwilling to renew its license on fair and reasonable terms or resolve the matter amicably and has used our technology without making any royalty payments for two years,” said a spokesperson for Nokia Technologies.
The spokesperson underlined the importance of adherence to regulations, urging Oppo to align itself with industry norms and secure a license on terms that are equitable and just.
Earlier, the apex court declined to intervene with the Delhi High Court’s decision in this matter. Oppo has been granted a three-week timeframe to comply with the directions of the High Court and an additional 10 days to submit an undertaking to the Supreme Court.
