Nokia 8 Sirocco and Nokia 2 Start Receiving May Security Update

HMD Global is counted-on when it comes to releasing Security and OS updates on Nokia devices. The Finnish company has now started rolling out May security update for Nokia 8 Sirocco and Nokia 2 smartphones. Nokia 8 Sirocco is getting the latest Android security fixes in the Indian market where as Nokia 2 gets the updated in both India and US.

The changelog confirms that the update only brings May security patch and therefore, no additional changes are expected on both devices. Nokia 8 Sirocco update weighs 82.5 MB in size while Nokia 2 gets update sizing 88.0 MB.

According to NPU “The May Security update brings fix for a critical security vulnerability in Media framework that could enable a remote attacker using a specially crafted file to execute arbitrary code within the context of a privileged process.”

The OTA update is being rolled out in different phases, therefore, it may take quite sometime to reach all the users. It is advisable to patiently wait for the update to hit your device when you will be prompted to download this update.
