New Nokia Phones To Launch On Dec 5, Confirms HMD Global

Nokia brand licensee HMD Global may soon add a new member to its smartphone family. A teaser earlier posted by HMD Global revealed that the new range of Nokia smartphones will be launched on 5 December, 2019. However, the confirmation does not reveal which model is being unveiled on the said date. We are anticipating that the company could possibly offer Nokia 8.1’s successor, Nokia 8.2.

The official Nokia Mobile account on Twitter posted a brief video announcing the date of the launch the new product. Interestingly, the Finnish smartphone maker had launched the Nokia 8.1 handset in India in December last year. The possibility of Nokia 8.2 announcement looms large at the upcoming Nokia event.

Rumours across various platforms suggest the new smartphone is reportedly going to be the company’s first phone with 64-megapixel clad quad-camera module and a pop-up selfie camera. The earlier Nokia 8.1 came with two rear camera lenses of 13 MP and 12 MP each, priced at 26,699. The flagship smartphone later added a new variant with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.

According to reports, the successor to Nokia 8.1 will feature up to 8GB of RAM, 256GB built-in storage, and run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 730 processor. Moreover, the new Nokia 8.2 is also expected to come with 5G support.

Apart from that, reports also mentioned that the Nokia 2.3 and Nokia 5.2 budget phones may feature in the upcoming launch.

The key specifications, which have been leaked, state that the the Nokia 5.2 could be powered by a Snapdragon 632, and may come with a 6.1-inch full HD display and 3,920 mAh battery. The smartphone is likely to come with up to 6GB of RAM, Bluetooth 5.0, and a 16-megapixel rear camera.

Coming to the Nokia 2.3 device, the entry-level smartphone may run on a MediaTek processor. It’s predecessor, Nokia 2.2, which was released in June this year with the price tag of 6,999, and runs on Android 9.0 (Pie) and incorporates the Mediatek processor.—Livemint
