Network Issues Bother Vodafone Idea Users

Frustrated by call drops, bogged down by slow mobile internet speed and stymied by poor connectivity, Vodafone Idea customers are a harried lot. Many took to social media to vent their ire.

Some even threatened to break up with the carrier.

“Hey Vodafone! This is not gonna work anymore. We seriously need to talk. I know we have been in a long relationship of more than 10 years, but I am fed up with your low coverage, worst internet speed, call drops, and what not. The support executive informed me that Vodafone can only provide good 2G speed in my area (Aundh), the 3G/4G connections are weak in a metro city,” Parth Suba tweeted.

Network issues bother Vodafone Idea users
He told TOI that he has been facing connectivity issues for over three months now, but cannot switch to any other network as he paid for an entire year’s package.

“For the past four days, Vodafone’s customer care have been calling me every day, only to inform me that the 3G/4G signal is weak in my area and that a team is working on it. They have said that they would let me know once the connectivity improves, but that’s about it,” he added.

“Vodafone network will face issues this month. Vodafone users can select Idea 3G or 4G wherever they face issues,” Kapil Arora, a resident of Pimple Saudagar, quoted a Vodafone customer care executive as saying.

Vodafone Idea officials conceded some areas were facing issues due to post-merger system integration, while another executive said that it has been taking them longer than anticipated to fix the problem, and blamed it on the monsoon work. The Maharashtra and Goa circle is among the top priority circle for the combined entity. The company said customers were being informed proactively at least three days in advance if any trouble in connection was foreseen.

The company sought to assure its customers that normalcy will be restored.

“Network integration is happening at a rapid pace, and more than half of the sites in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad have already been integrated…Full network integration will be completed in a month’s time, resulting in considerable increase in coverage and capacity for both Vodafone and Idea customers… During the integration, some customers may face issues,” a Vodafone Idea statement read.

Complaints of poor network even in areas where integration has been completed belie this claim. “Once again you have made your customers proud…we really thank you for providing us a speed of 220Kbps in an era of 100Mbps,” Vikram Ainchwar, a resident of Yerawada, tweeted, almost in jest.―Times of India
