Neeraj Mittal is Secretary, DoT and S. Krishnan, Secretary, MeitY

Neeraj Mittal has been appointed as the Secretary of the Department of Telecommunications. A Tamil Nadu cadre 1992-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, Mittal was serving as the Principal Secretary of Information Technology Department, government of Tamil Nadu. Previously, he worked as the Managing Director & CEO of Guidance Tamil Nadu; Senior Advisor at World Bank Group; and Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.

He succeeds Apurva Chandra, secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (I&B) who had been given the additional charge as the Secretary, DoT when K Rajaraman retired on July 31, 2023.

S. Krishnan, has been appointed as Secretary of the Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY). Krishnan is a Tamil Nadu cadre 1989-batch IAS official. Prior to this, Krishnan was Additional Chief Secretary, Industries Government of Tamil Nadu and an Additional Director, Titan’s board. He succeeds Alkesh Kumar Sharma who has superannuated on August 31, 2023.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) sent out a circular approving the appointments.
