APPOINTED

Anshu Prakash takes over as secretary, Department of Telecommunications (DoT). He succeeds Aruna Sundararajan, who retired on July 31, 2019. Prakash, a 1986-batch IAS officer of Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram-Union Territories (AGMUT) cadre, has been promoted from being additional secretary of the DoT, prior to which, Prakash was the chief secretary of Delhi.

Ravinder Takkar has been appointed as managing director and chief executive, Vodafone Idea Ltd. He succeeds Balesh Sharma.

Bharti Airtel has appointed Rajesh Tapadia as chief executive officer, Nxtra Data. Tapadia, who had worked with companies such as Trimax, Global Cloud Xchange, Genpact, and Reliance Infocomm, was chief service officer and executive director with Netmagic Solutions in his most recent role.

Vinod Kumar has been appointed as chief executive officer, Vodafone Business. Vinod succeeds Vodafone Group CEO Rest of World, Vivek Badrinath, who has been acting as Interim CEO of Vodafone Business since March 2019.

Rajesh Nambiar has been appointed as chairman and president, Ciena India. He previously led IBM’s application services business globally and served in various leadership roles at the company for more than 13 years.

ZTE has appointed Yan Xiao as the deputy chief executive officer of the Indian operations. Yan had been serving the company as the chief executive of Myanmar. In another development, Rajat Mukarji has joined ZTE India as the chief corporate officer. He most recently served Idea Cellular as the chief corporate affairs.

Tech Mahindra has appointed former Axis Bank CEO, Shikha Sharma and Khaitan & Co Partner, Haigreve Khaitan as independent directors.

Devendra Kamtekar has been appointed as CEO, Digisol Systems Ltd. Previously, he has worked with Cisco, Alcatel Lucent, and Palo Alto Networks.

Ruchira Jaitly has been appointed as chief marketing officer, HMD Global. Jaitly replaces Jyotsna Makkar.

Debashis Chatterjee has been appointed as CEO and MD, Mindtree Limited. Prior to this, Chatterjee was president, global delivery and global leader for the Digital Sytems and technology practice at Cognizant.

Amrita Gangotra joins Tanla Solutions’ Board as an independent director. With 30 years of experience, Amrita has worked at Airtel, Vodafone, Nestle, HCL Comnet, and Allen Bradley in varied roles across research and IT.

Oppo has promoted Alen Wu to vice president and president of global sales. The company has also promoted Brian Shen as vice president and president of global marketing.

ELECTED

Qualcomm Incorporated has appointed Mark McLaughlin as its chairman of the board, replacing Jeff Henderson, who had served in that capacity since March 2018. Henderson, the former chief financial officer of Cardinal Health, will remain on the board and continue to chair its audit committee.

RESIGNED

Telia chief executive Johan Dennelind has resigned unexpectedly. Dennelind, who has given Telia 12 months’ notice, has also instigated a cost-cutting program and overseen the acquisition of Tele2 Norway and GET Norway.

CommScope has eliminated the chief operating officer position and will split responsibilities of the role among other members of the executive team. As a result of this decision, Bruce McClelland is no longer with the company.
