APPOINTED
Vodafone Idea’s board of directors has appointed Murthy GVAS as the interim chief financial officer with effect from February 15, 2023. Murthy is currently designated as the executive vice president – financial controller and taxation head. He also leads a Shared Services vertical in the the financial function.

Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited has appointed Sultan Ahmed, GM (Finance) as chief financial officer and KMP of the company. Ahmed has worked as CM (Finance) at MTNL Corporate Office and is a director on the board of MTL, which is a fully owned subsidiary of MTNL.

Susanth Kurunthil has been appointed as chief executive officer, Kochi Infopark. Prior to this Kurunthil was founder & CEO, HashECM Technologies Pvt. Ltd.

David Reed has been appointed as chief executive officer, semiconductor business, Vedanta. Prior to this he was executive vice president & GM, NXP Semiconductors, and was based at Austin, Texas.

Prachur Sah has been appointed as CEO & MD, Indus Towers. Prior to this Sah was CEO, Cairn Oil and Gas.

Sanjeev Singh has been appointed as chief executive officer & managing director, CMS IT Services. Prior to this he was head of operations, Wipro Limited.

Prashant Dewangan has been appointed as associate vice president & head of field marketing, Web Werks Data Centers India. Prior to this Dewangan was general manager marketing, IceWarp India.

Naval Seth has been appointed as head of investor relations, Bharti Airtel. Prior to this he was deputy head of research, Emkay Global Financial Services Limited.

Carol Surface has been appointed as chief people officer, Apple. Prior to this Surface was EVP and chief human resources officer, Medtronic.

Nicholas Toh has been appointed as Group CEO, DCI Data Centers. He joined DCI from STT Global Data Centers, where he was a founding member.

Tom Gillis has been appointed as the SVP and GM of the vendor’s Security Business Group, Cisco. Prior to this, Gillis was SVP and GM of the vendor’s Networking and Advanced Security Business Group, VMware. He had previously served as Cisco’s VP and GM of security technology group from 2007 to 2011. Gillis departed VMware last month, along with several other top executives, including Mark Lohmeyer, who was SVP and GM of VMware’s Cloud Infrastructure Business Group; and Ajay Patel, who was SVP and GM of Modern Apps at VMware. The departures came under the shadow of VMware’s impending acquisition by Broadcom.

Cisco’s former security chief Shaila Shankar took on the newly formed role of SVP of Security Business Group Engineering. Shankar previously headed Cisco’s cloud and network security team, and replaced Gee Rittenhouse in 2021 to become SVP and GM of the Security Business Group.

Vikas Purohit has been appointed by Meta as director of Global Business Group in India. Prior to joining Meta, Purohit was CEO, e-commerce division, Tata Group and Tata CLiQ.

Matt Mercier has been named chief financial officer, Digital Realty. He succeeds Andrew Power, who was recently named chief executive officer.

Serene Nah has been appointed as managing director, head of Asia Pacific, Digital Realty. Nah joins Digital Realty from Kerry Properties, where she was executive director and chief financial officer in charge, finance, corporate development, strategy, and operations.

Hong Ju Jeon has been appointed as managing director, LG Electronics. He was previously the Gulf region in charge as subsidiary president. Additionally, he also held other senior positions at LG Electronics as managing director, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria subsidiaries. The previous MD of LG India, Young Lak Kim has been promoted to the position of Executive Vice-President and will be joining as Korea sales and marketing head.

Rolf Werner has been appointed as senior vice president, European region, Nokia. Prior to this he was CEO, Germany, Cognizant Technology Solutions, with responsibility for the DACH region.

Francois Sterin has been appointed as chief operating officer, Data4. Prior to this Sterin was chief industrial officer, OVHcloud, where he was also business environmental and sustainability roadmap in charge.

Ashok Kumar Sablania has been appointed as consultant, Network Services, STL. Prior to this, Sablania was director technical & CEO, Railtel Enterprise Limited.

Samsung Electronics has hired two experts from Swedish telco Ericsson to reinforce its network business. The company hired Henrik Jansson, formerly the strategic sourcing manager for Ericsson. The company also recruited Jo Mi-sun who served as the head of sustainability and corporate responsibility at Ericsson. She is expected to be in charge of finding new business areas and sales in Europe.

PROMOTED
Meng Wanzhou has been appointed as the rotating chairperson, Huawei Technologies from April 2023. During her six-month turn as the company’s top leader, Meng also serves as deputy chairwoman and CFO at Huawei and will head the company’s board of directors and its executive committee.

Nokia has appointed Esa Niinimäki as chief legal officer and member of the Group Leadership Team. Esa has worked at Nokia for more than 15 years where he has held multiple positions, most recently interim chief legal officer. Prior to this role, he was vice president, deputy chief legal officer, and board secretary.

Ericsson has appointed Jenny Lindqvist senior vice president, head of market area Europe & Latin America, as of February 1, 2023. Effective the same date, she will become member of the Ericsson executive team, reporting to the CEO. Jenny Lindqvist currently holds the position of vice president and head of Northern and Central Europe within Ericsson’s market area Europe & Latin America. As a member of Ericsson’s executive leadership team, Jenny Lindqvist succeeds Stefan Koetz, who has been acting in this role as of June 1, 2022. Stefan will take on a new role as head of strategic projects for market area Europe & Latin America.

David M Rothenstein has been appointed as senior vice president, chief strategy officer, and corporate secretary, Ciena Corporation. Rothenstein has served as Ciena’s senior vice president, general counsel, and corporate secretary since November 2008, and as acting chief strategy officer since March 2022.

Ravi Kumar has been appointed as CEO, Cognizant. Prior to this, he was President, Infosys. Kumar succeeds outgoing CEO Brian Humphries, who will be departing from the company on March 15.

RESIGNED
Venugopal Lambu has resigned from his position of whole-time director & president, markets 11 LTIMindtree. Lambu joined Mindtree from Cognizant and prior to that, he also worked at HCLTech.

Sumit Sonal, general manager – Marketing, Xiaomi India has resigned from his position. Sonal had worked with Xiaomi India for six years.
Vivek Badrinath, CEO, Management Board, Vantage Towers AG, has not renewed his contract beyond the current term that runs until the end of the year 2023.

Omar Ishrak, chairman, Intel Corporation, has stepped down from his position, and the board director Frank Yeary as his replacement.

Tobias Martinez Gimeno, chief executive, Cellnex has resigned after the company announced a strategy shift away from acquisitions to focus on lowering debt. His resignation will take effect on June 3.

ELECTED
Ramesh Abhishek has been appointed as independent director – part time, Indus Towers Limited. Former Secretary DPIIT, Abhishek is also a director at Aditya Birla Sunlife, at US-India Business Council, at Nuvama Wealth Finance Limited, and at Nuvama Wealth Management Limited.

Salesforce has announced, as part of its ongoing board refreshment process, the appointments to the Company’s Board of Directors, effective March 1, 2023, of Arnold Donald, former president and chief executive officer of Carnival Corporation & plc; Sachin Mehra, chief financial officer of Mastercard; and Mason Morfit, chief executive officer and chief investment officer of ValueAct Capital.

BEREAVED
Jai Menon suffered a brain stroke on December 28, 2022, that proved to be fatal. Menon, a top ranked alumnus of IIT-Delhi, started his career at IBM’s T. J. Watson Research Labs, USA, and rose to become executive director in IBM’s Software Group. He had also served as Corporate Officer and Executive Vice President at AT&T, USA.

Menon was also the architect of Bharti Airtel’s partnership with Google Inc. and other technology firms across the world. He also had more than 30 patents to his name, acquired prior to joining Bharti. He was considered the driver of Airtel’s hugely successful 10-year USD 750-million outsourcing deal with IBM.

Menon served Bharti Airtel as a group CIO from 2002 to 2010, holding a board membership position, and later served the parent company Bharti Enterprises as CIO and group director. In 2014, he resigned from Airtel and joined the leadership team of HT Media Ltd. as group director.
