APPOINTED

Arvind Krishna has been appointed as the CEO of IBM, succeeding Ginni Rometty. Krishna has served as IBM’s senior vice president for cloud and cognitive software for the past year, having assumed the role in January 2019. His oversight includes the IBM Cloud platform, as well as the IBM Security division and Cognitive Applications business.

Red Hat has appointed Paul Cormier as its chief executive officer, replacing longtime leader Jim Whitehurst, who was recently promoted to become president of IBM. Cormier has worked at Red Hat since 2001, most recently serving as Red Hat’s president of products and technologies.

Dayapatra Nevatia has been appointed as chief operating officer, Mindtree. Nevatia holds decades of industry experience and joins Mindtree from Accenture, where he was the MD and director of delivery for advanced technology centers in India.

Karan Bajwa (ex managing director-IBM) has been appointed as managing director, Google Cloud India. He succeeds Nitin Bawankule.

Ganesh Balasubramanian has been appointed as chief revenue officer, Optiva. He joins Optiva from Netcracker, where he held various leadership roles across the globe.

Siddhant Narayan has been appointed as head of marketing, OnePlus India. Prior to joining OnePlus, he was the marketing head for the Indian subcontinent at Daniel Wellington.

NEC Corporation and NEC Technologies India have appointed Aalok Kumar as the president and chief executive officer.
Additionally, Takayuki Inaba, former chairman and managing director, has been appointed as executive chairman of NEC Technologies India.

Bharti Infratel has reappointed Devender Singh Rawat as its MD and CEO.

L&T Technology Services Limited has appointed Amit Chadha as deputy chief executive officer and whole-time director of the company. Amit is presently president sales and business development and whole-time director of the company.

OPPO has appointed Elvis Zhou as the president of its India operations. Zhou has spent over 11 years with the company in various roles, starting as the regional manager of OPPO East Guangdong, wherein he was responsible for sales in the region.

American Tower has tapped its CFO Thomas Bartlett to take over as CEO, as long-time chief Jim Taiclet has exited to lead aerospace and defense company Lockheed Martin.

Ofcom has appointed Simon Saunders, head of connectivity partnerships, Google, as its director of emerging technology. Melanie Dawes will become its chief executive and Terry Burns, Ofcom’s chairman, will leave the organization as it expands its role.

CHANGES IN THE BOARD

Cognizant Technology Solutions has inducted Archana Deskus, senior vice-president, chief information officer for Intel Corporation, as an independent director, into its board.

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates has left its board of directors to devote more time to philanthropy. He served as chairman of Microsoft’s board of directors until early in 2014 and has now stepped away entirely.

Samsung Electronics has named one of its key non-executive directors, Park Jae-wan, as its board chair. Park succeeds Lee Sang-hoon.

RESIGNED

Rob Shuter, group chief executive, MTN Group Ltd., has stepped down.
