Mangaluru team to get 3 CoEs in IT sector

The Karnataka government has decided to set up three Centers of Excellence (CoE) in Mangaluru under the Karnataka Digital Economy Mission’s (KDEM) ‘Beyond Bengaluru’ initiative, said CN Ashwath Narayan, Minister for Electronics, Information Technology, Biotechnology, Science and Technology, Higher Education, Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Life.

Speaking at ‘Mangaluru Technovanza’ as part of KDM’s ‘Beyond Bengaluru’ program in Mangaluru on Saturday, he said that the government is setting up three CoEs in the areas of AVGC (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Cartoon), fintech and cybersecurity. .

“We have identified Mangaluru as a key contributor to the nation’s technological ambitions, committed to the team’s people, ideas and entrepreneurial spirit,” he said. The Minister said that ‘Mangaluru Innovation Hub’, through the Karnataka State Electronics Development Corporation Limited (KEONICS), will be set up on an area of ​​2 lakh sq ft.

This office will help in the growth of new industries in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada and Kodagu, from Mangaluru cluster, he said.

‘Go beyond Bengaluru’
EV Ramana Reddy, Deputy Principal Secretary, Department of Electronics, IT, BT, Science and Technology of the Karnataka state, said that groups emerging from outside Bengaluru like Mangaluru are gaining more influence.

Stating that the government has made efforts to accelerate the growth of Mangaluru, he said that the Karnataka government with the support of KDM has set up a seed fund of ₹25 crore only for startups in Mangaluru as part of the ‘Beyond Bengaluru’ project.
