LG Launches WK9 Xboom AI ThinQ Smart Display

South Korean tech giant LG has launched its latest Smart Display. Named LG Xboom AI ThinQ, model WK9 will be available in US. The company showcased the product for the first time at IFA 2018. The company claims that the smart display offers good sound quality and is enabled with Google Assistant.

The company has developed the smart display in association with Google and Meridian Audio. The device comes equipped with a front-facing camera for video conferencing and stereo 20W speakers. The device sports an 8-inch touch display and runs Android Things.

In addition to its superior audio and video capabilities, the LG XBOOM AI ThinQ WK9 enables control of other LG ThinQ products in their home such as LG TVs and home appliances as well as more than 10,000 smart devices from over 1,000 brands that work with the Google Assistant.

Seo Young-Jae, head of the convergence audio and video business division at LG’s Home Entertainment Company Android Things, said, “Our partnerships with Google and Meridian Audio allows us to offer a new home entertainment experience with the smart capabilities of the Google Assistant and the premium audio know-how that only Meridian could deliver. Unlike other AI speakers where sound quality takes a back seat to the brain, the WK9 is first and foremost a high fidelity audio product that also happens to be intelligent.”

The smart display weighs 1.5kg and offers WiFi and Bluetooth as connectivity options. It is available only in Black colour option and the company has not yet revealed the price and sale date of the device.

Recently, LG launched its new high-end brand called LG Objet. The company will launch home appliances and furniture under the brand. This is the second premium brand of the company as LG already has a Signature brand which the company launched in the year 2016. The company claims that the products which will come under this brand will made using wood and metal. – Gadgetsnow
